Map Images

Postby Dragonsys » Sat May 14, 2011 9:53 pm

Where do you find the custom map images (if not supplied with the map) or how can I create the images?
I have a bunch of maps which do not have images, and would like to get/create them.

right, but how do you get the user out of the way. Guess I could use a private server and join as spectator...

I was hoping to be able to find a way to extract the images from the map files, but I have been unable to do so. I know there are screenshots in there, as the game displays them on the map selection screen (Instant Action games)

Yes, you can extract the images from the maps, but you'd probably have to load them in the editor.

yeah I tried using unrealed, but I just don't know it well enough to figure how to extract the images. I'll keep digging.

I decided just to use screenshots from in game, the problem is, as a spectator you get a banner at the bottom (.. Fire to join...) so I am converting the images into animated gifs set at 256x128, to complete more of the collection started by DogsBody, since he is no longer making updates to his maplist.

I would also be willing to help create image for others if anyone wants help.
Here are a couple examples:

I have also edited the pages which display the map pics to check for the gif image (256x128) if not exist check for the jpg (256x192) and if not exist display a unkown.gif image. The images are then displayed at their correct size as well.

Examples:

unkown - http://www.dragons-server.com/utstatsdb ... .php?map=6
